Money Saving Tips for your Clothes – Part 2

It’s January and you have credit card bills to pay. Also the economy is slowing down and your job maybe less secure than this time last year.
Everyone’s feeling the pinch and so I thought I’d share some money saving tips to help as we begin 2012.
  1. Use two trouser suits to prolong the life of your suit – When buying a suit, try and get two trousers and put a number 1 and 2 on the inside label.  You wear trousers 1 on one day and trousers 2 on another day. Ideally if you have two or three suits you can stretch this out, so your trousers don’t look worn and torn.  Additionally, follow tip 1 and put them on the shower door after a working day before putting them back in the wardrobe.
  2. Look after your ties – Ties are a very delicate silk fabric and need to really be looked after.  When you have finished with your tie for the day, flatten it out, then roll it up or hang it up on a tie rack.  Silk is a relaxed fabric and it will stretch out to its original shape.  Ties are not cheap especially the nice silk ones, so look after them
  3. Mix and match to create multiple outfits – It gets very expensive to have one tie for one shirt or one shirt and tie combo for just one suit.  So when you are buying your outfits take pictures of shirts and ties you have now.  Then you can make sure when you are buying new clothes that they go with your existing wardrobe.  If you get one tie that goes with two shirts, that is two outfits for the week, plus you then don’t need an extra tie for your 2nd shirt. Instant cost saving!
